STEM Academic Advisory Commission (SAAC)

Partnership Mission/Purpose:

The purpose of SAAC is to provide an avenue of minority outreach between academic institutions and professionals with programs in science by enhancing outreach for the professional development of interested minority candidates.

Projects will include:
  • Conducting strategical outreach with 2-year and 4-year academic institutions, including publications and advertisements
  • Creating Post-doctorate/employment opportunities
  • Developing comprehensive mission statements 
  • Exploration of early interest programs at the K-12 level
  • Establishing resources for parents by developing interest for science concentration
  • Development of symposiums, conferences, workshops and lectures on STEM Pipeline/Career Path programs
  • Comparing and analyzing data based on outreach methods
  • Creating extensive tracking methods in establishing pipeline programs for career paths
  • Establishing feeder programs to recruit Asian and Pacific Islanders, African Americans, Latinos and Native Americans within STEM concentrations 
  • Organizing feeder programs between academic institutions and science organizations
